Canal Road Dip Slide
South Pender Island, BC
Project Owner: Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
Project description
Earth Works provided comprehensive construction surveying and geomatics support for the Canal Road Dip Slide project on South Pender Island, working as part of the project construction team for the contractor.
Our involvement covered the project from initial site preparation through completion of the new roadway. Earth Works provided all construction layout for site clearing, blasting, excavation, gravel placement and paving, as well as layout for three large culverts and the Mt. Norman retaining wall.
The retaining wall included more than 80 soil nails installed to MoTI specifications, requiring accurate survey control and construction layout throughout the installation process.
Earth Works also provided monthly volume calculations to support progress payment quantities, along with drone mapping and survey data for construction documentation and surface verification.
At completion, Earth Works carried out the final record and as-built survey of the project in accordance with MoTI requirements.
